Aw, that was such a sweet, sad take on the Matsuda finds Ryuzaki's shoes. One of the things I really like is that it prompts Matsuda to think of L like a real person. L is somebody, both as a letter/computerized voice and as an eccentric genius, who might not strike anyone as being too much like a person. But I think Matsuda, out of everyone, would be the one who is most moved/disturbed by the fact that he actually is, really. A person who wore cheap, filthy trainers with worn heels because of the way he walked. That's a legacy of actual personage, and somebody like L could still leave that behind.
In the Aizawa fic, I really like the stuff about how the Kira case is impacting him more than anything else has, ever before. And how it probably hurts him that his wife is hurt that he can't come home. But he can't face the mundanity and the comfort of his family whilst knowing how dangerous Kira really is.
