Battle Royale: The movie!
Okay, much love for Duncan, for he illegally downloaded the Battle Royale movie and we watched it! Yay for murderous Japanese teenagers!
Hmm. Weirdest movie I've seen for a long while.
Probably the most artistic of the three BR media. Really got an impression of how beautiful the island was, despite all the death. Also more subtle in places, like not seeing Yuko jump.
The lighthouse scene was really good, the best of all three, I think. Really realistic.
I loved Shinji's virus! With the little basketball guy ^_^ and again, the poignancy of how close they got really came through.
I liked Noriko much better than I did in the manga. Also loved Shuuya, Yoshi and Kawada. Kawada is like the coolest guy, like, ever. < /fangirl>
Kiriyama is just nasty. Sorry, but he is.
Mitsuko is... odd. Not as much of a total bitch as she is in the manga. Dunno what I think about her really.
I think we were missing a few bits; there was no Mitsuko-flashback and no basketball game.
Takako is fucking scary. Niida was an idiot, but Takako... eep. She just lost it.
Hiroki was lovely.
The use of classical music was weird. Sometimes funny. Not sure it was always intentionally funny. I was surprised at how much black comedy there was in the film, actually.

Shogo and Shinji are eye candy deluxe as are Mitsuko and Takako. *.*
I didn't like movie!Kiriyama. But I loved when Shogo came back to get his bag and bumped into Kazuo on purpose! No wonder people like to slash them.
I'm glad I've seen the movie first of all there is to BR. I'd have been disappointed if it'd been the other way around.

The violence wasn't that bad, imo. I just thought that it was crazy that 15 year-olds' were killing each other.

I agree with you on all of those points. Especially on Takako - although that scene kinda bugged me; it wasn't so much self defence as her just going batshit insane and butchering him. Seemed overly gratuitous, even for BR, especially since Niida didn't seem as much of a dickhead as in either of the other versions.
A lot of black comedy - some of it was just too WTF-ish... but not much - most of it fitted in. ('My dad's a doctor/chef/fisherman' made me laugh far more than the joke probably warranted)

My favourite scene is the lighthouse machine gun fight, especially Shuya's expression upstairs. He's like DOUBLE U TEE EFF.
I need to make an avatar of that. *adds to list of millions of other things to do*
