That's quite an interesting point, but even gentle mice (I nearly wrote 'mouses' there... am not awake today) are real people with real flaws. What irritates me about this character is that you know a lot about her, but you never see any evidence that she isn't perfect, whereas practically all of the 'less important' girls come across as real people. For me, it makes it hard to suspend disbelief and feel immersed in the story.
