I HAVE JET SET RADIO AGAIN!!!!
All love and venerate
shinikarukoochi, for she has sent me a copy of JSR and it works! *dances* I had forgotten how lovely the atmosphere in the game is and how darn cool the voice acting is...and the music. And the lighting effects. And the fun. *bounce bounce* It's not crazy obsession-ness though, it's like meeting an old friend again. It's just...cool.
Was reading the amazon.com reviews for Eminem's 'Eminem Show' album, and I'm really starting to get pissed off at this 'mainstream is crap and music must be Meaningful And Made Only By Real Artists' stuff. Yes, I know it's unfair that big corporate companies manufacture artists while talented people fall by the wayside. I am pretty sure that I have little appreciation of musical taste because I have never listened to all the *ahem* cool, real, cutting-edge bands and artists I admire are Eminem, Pink and Evanescence, and I've also enjoyed, in my time, songs by Linkin Park, the Spice Girls, S Club 7 and Steps. Although hang on - maybe that's wrong, I don't always admire the artists, but I do like the songs. Sometimes it's because they fit with a story, sometimes it's because they have a tune that I love, sometimes it's cos they have a good beat and sometimes it's because they're catchy.
When I was younger, I listened to nothing but pop, and some of my old tapes and lists of stuff I liked makes me wince ('Wannabe' by the Spice Girls is JUST PLAIN ANNOYING) but I liked it then, and I still like some of it now. However, I don't pretend to be a ghetto hood girl-person, a sk8ter chick, a goth or anything else, and I hate the way if you like certain bands people just assume you're a wannabe with a shallow mind and no brains (anyway who's saying 'so where's your problem?' should be ashamed of themselves ^_^). I like the songs BECAUSE I LIKE THE WAY THE SONGS SOUND. I am not a total pop-fanatic - I hate Westlife and most boy bands, for instance - but I'm not going to apologise for my musical tastes either. If anyone else starts going on about how mainstream music sucks because it's meaningless, I shall simply insert the following passage in my next Akira fanfic:
"Tetsuo roared as his psychic powers burst into fruition. The resulting blast shot all the way round the world, creating several small earthquakes and destroying a hall in which the Listeners Against Mainstream Music Association was holding its weekly meeting.'
That is all.

AS, if you don't stop being sarky about JGR, I'm going to get seriously pissed off with you. Let's try a little something called tact, okay? This is how it goes. I haven't played JSRF. I am quite prepared to admit that JSRF has made advances in gaming technique compared to JGR. I accept that you don't enjoy JGR and don't think it's a very good game. But perhaps, if it's not too much trouble, you could keep such opinions to yourself when talking to me. I know and accept them. That does not mean I have to keep listening to you slag off a game that I am extremely fond of. You know I like JGR so perhaps you could accept that and cut it some slack when we're talking?
Anyway, to the rest of the post...that's not the only lot of bands I like (although most of the others are pretty mainstream I guess). There are still boy bands around, like Busted and Phixx and Blue...pretty boy-bandish to me!
I'm not that keen on rock though...Linkin Park are all right but I wouldn't buy their album. But I might check out the clips if I get time.

Oh and I'm not exactly making fun of your game, as both are the same game, just different. I actually started busting on JSRF the other day on all it's stupid faults. Both of them are equally crappy cult classics. ^_^
