I HAVE JET SET RADIO AGAIN!!!!
All love and venerate [livejournal.com profile] shinikarukoochi, for she has sent me a copy of JSR and it works! *dances* I had forgotten how lovely the atmosphere in the game is and how darn cool the voice acting is...and the music. And the lighting effects. And the fun. *bounce bounce* It's not crazy obsession-ness though, it's like meeting an old friend again. It's just...cool.

Was reading the amazon.com reviews for Eminem's 'Eminem Show' album, and I'm really starting to get pissed off at this 'mainstream is crap and music must be Meaningful And Made Only By Real Artists' stuff. Yes, I know it's unfair that big corporate companies manufacture artists while talented people fall by the wayside. I am pretty sure that I have little appreciation of musical taste because I have never listened to all the *ahem* cool, real, cutting-edge bands and artists I admire are Eminem, Pink and Evanescence, and I've also enjoyed, in my time, songs by Linkin Park, the Spice Girls, S Club 7 and Steps. Although hang on - maybe that's wrong, I don't always admire the artists, but I do like the songs. Sometimes it's because they fit with a story, sometimes it's because they have a tune that I love, sometimes it's cos they have a good beat and sometimes it's because they're catchy.
When I was younger, I listened to nothing but pop, and some of my old tapes and lists of stuff I liked makes me wince ('Wannabe' by the Spice Girls is JUST PLAIN ANNOYING) but I liked it then, and I still like some of it now. However, I don't pretend to be a ghetto hood girl-person, a sk8ter chick, a goth or anything else, and I hate the way if you like certain bands people just assume you're a wannabe with a shallow mind and no brains (anyway who's saying 'so where's your problem?' should be ashamed of themselves ^_^). I like the songs BECAUSE I LIKE THE WAY THE SONGS SOUND. I am not a total pop-fanatic - I hate Westlife and most boy bands, for instance - but I'm not going to apologise for my musical tastes either. If anyone else starts going on about how mainstream music sucks because it's meaningless, I shall simply insert the following passage in my next Akira fanfic:
"Tetsuo roared as his psychic powers burst into fruition. The resulting blast shot all the way round the world, creating several small earthquakes and destroying a hall in which the Listeners Against Mainstream Music Association was holding its weekly meeting.'
That is all.

Okay, let me sort out everything I need to say:

Wow, the way you described JGR, you actually made it sound good. Look, I'm not saying that you have to go out and buy an Xbox and JSRF, but please, try to go out and play the game once!!! Or perhaps get a used Xbox. I mean, there are WAY more games that I could recommend for you know than when I first said, "Get an Xbox."

The thing with all the bands you like, is that they are also, all super-mainstream. Especially Linkin Park. I like them quite a bit, but I think that they are the only popular Heavy Metal artists whose songs end up on pop charts. Usually, hit metal songs are only popular on 'Rock only' stations, like Godsmack or System of a Down. Also, you can't really say that you hate boy bands, as there are NO boy bands left! Unless you count Simple Plan. They're a punk rock/boy band. Oh yeah, this is gonna sound strange, but I like Pink too...way more than Britney and Christina. Hmmm, I was supposed to be proving something but I forgot what it was, and I think it's irrelevant in any case.

Hey, I've been advertising on The Crystal Method, and they're non-mainstream and just released an album. Perhaps you should look into them. I left a comment in Zarrah's journal giving links to song clips.

Sorry for the long response, I feel like talking to somebody.

Never heard of those guys. Are they all brittish?

Oh and I'm not exactly making fun of your game, as both are the same game, just different. I actually started busting on JSRF the other day on all it's stupid faults. Both of them are equally crappy cult classics. ^_^

I can't help but feeling that the music rant is partially my fault, with the whole RIAA-boycott post I made. So if it is, I apologize! I do tend to speak far too liberally as far as music goes (although I thought that post in itself was fairly neutral and just hated on the RIAA directly rather than its bands).

Basically I'm trying to get out of "Music Nazi" mode whenever someone talks about a band I feel either isn't worth the interest or is a particular whore to the Recording industry. But seriously, I HATE the RIAA XD

See, now I'm just rambling because I need sleep. Curse me not being able to finish this page in Amenon!

Well, my opinon on the music issue: yeah, there are a lot of manufactured artists out there, and yes, music now a days tends to be more mainstream. As for bands that I like, um....well, there's No Doubt, TATU, Linkin Park and I do like Christina Agulira, Brtiney (well, I really only like "Me Against the Music and I'm a Slave for You), Justin Timberlake, Paul Oakenfold, and Spice Girls. But there's something to be said about Christina, even though she might be manufactured. She has real talent. Unlike Britney...
^_^ . About JSRF, you can get it for $12 US dollars. Go to electronicsboutique.com or check ebay out. I'm sure that you can pick up an Xbox and a copy of JSRF (which also includes Sega GT 2002) for cheap.
