Um... I'm sure some of my answers were wrong. At the very least some of them were guesses.

Anyway. Exams are over, yay. The last one (this morning) didn't go as well as I'd hoped although the one I posted about in my last entry (yesterday evening) went better than I'd hoped so really, I've done what I expected, just... not with the exams I thought I would. If that makes sense. Am now moving out of 'arrrgh, how could I be so thick in this morning's exam?' to 'I'm really tired...'

It is... four hours forty minutes till the differential geometry exam of DEATH, a.k.a the one that I could actually mess up because I've been hating the module all semester. Oh well. My subtitle on my MSN screenname is counting down the exams plus an emoticon representing my opinion of the exam just passed. Tonight, I hope to have it saying '4 down, 1 to go :D' rather than '4 down, 1 to go ;_;'

Yesterday's exam was okay. It was all really easy except for the bits that weren't (I was asked for a proof that I revised once, a month and a half ago, and then forgot was there. Oops).

(My head aches. Possibly I should get off the computer. BUT THEN WHAT WOULD I DO? :O)

Anyway. Pointless procrastination ganked from [livejournal.com profile] speakwrite_:

Put your audio player software on random. Post the title of the first twenty songs that come up. Append "in My Pants" to the end of each title.

1) Depeche Mode - Stripped In My Pants
2) Jet Set Radio - Late Night Sneaking In My Pants
3) ABBA - The Visitors In My Pants
4) Pink Floyd - The Wall In My Pants
5) Green Day - Longview In My Pants
6) Rammstein - Mein Teil In My Pants *screams*
7) All Saints - Black Coffee In My Pants (owch)
8) Gorillaz - Demon Days In My Pants
9) One Inch Punch - Pretty Piece of Flesh In My Pants (... ick)
10) Akira soundtrack - Tetsuo In My Pants (XD WIN)
11) ABBA - Honey Honey In My Pants
12) Miss Saigon soundtrack - What A Waste In My Pants
13) Vast Aire - Free In My Pants
14) Eliza Carthy - Fuse In My Pants (o_0)
15) Garbage - Medication In My Pants
16) Big and Rich - Deadwood Mountain In My Pants (does that sound incredibly wrong, or is it just me?)
17) Depeche Mode - Barrel of a Gun In My Pants (that sounds even more wrong)
18) Blondie - One Way Or Another In My Pants
19) Phantom of the Opera soundtrack - The Point Of No Return In My Pants
20) ABBA - Knowing Me, Knowing You In My Pants

*cough* I feel very immature now.

The exam was kind of evil. I managed to give answers for all of it, but made one stupid mistake and have no idea if my answers were the ones he wanted. Still, I thought that might happen so I'm not too bothered.

Am now sitting here refreshing LJ over and over again...

fannish5 meme: what five songs should be in a musical episode (or musical version) of your fandom (in this case Akira and BR)? )
tallulahgs: (Nostalgic Kawada)
Comment here and I'll tell you one thing that I like about you. Then go post it in your LJ and return the sentiment.

This is... the only reason I have to make this entry.

Man.

Okay. Four and a half hours till my next exam.
tallulahgs: (Default)
My first exam went okay - I know I made a few irritating mistakes and there was a nasty moment when I thought a whole third of it was going to implode in front of my eyes (it turned out to be a combination of a misplaced minus sign and me not being able to read. GO TALLULAH GO.) My next one is on Friday. The wall to my right is still covered with A4 pages of notes, but the Akira poster next to them takes up slightly more space. I feel this is good and represents a healthy work-life balance. Or possibly work-fandom balance.

Damn it, [livejournal.com profile] br_roleplay is making me flail... okay, everything is making me flail at the moment. But I wish I was interested in playing a less-high profile character. Or that I had a backup choice after Shinji. *watches nervously for claims post* Or that I knew who the mods were after so at least I could stop worrying about that. Geez ^^

Meme stolen from [livejournal.com profile] blackeyedpotato that I'm doing WITHOUT BEING TAGGED OMG:

Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to list 10 movies: your 5 Favorites & your 5 Guilty Pleasures. Then, pick 5 of your friends and tag them. No tag backs. This explanation should be included.

Favourites: (More or less)
1. Akira
2. Battle Royale
3. Spirited Away
4. The History Boys
5. Chicago

Guilty Pleasures:
1. Mulan
2. Little Shop Of Horrors (I don't think it should be a guilty pleasure, but it's a silly musical about a man-eating plant, so I may be in the minority here ^^)
3. Clueless
4. Cruel Intentions
5. Baz Luhrman's Romeo + Juliet

(To be honest, I can't see a great deal of difference between the two lists in terms of content.)

(My movie tastes are, then, musicals, chick flicks with vicious teenagers, and random Japanese stuff.)

Ah, the coffee is reinvigorating me. Coffee's so great ^^
tallulahgs: (Angry Tetsuo)
Went to bed at 11 last night. Found it hard to drop off. At about midnight, someone - or possibly several someones - in a nearby house started playing loud music with an extremely heavy bassline. At twenty to one I decamped to the living room, where the noise was muted, and managed to doze until they stopped playing the sodding music. My thoughts on this ranged from 'I hope that if they have pets, they trip over them and bruise themselves' to 'I hope they suffer fatal heart attacks and drop down dead' to 'you know, flaying someone alive isn't so bad if it's someone you don't like...'

From which we deduce that were I to be threatened with sleep deprivation in order to get information out of me, I would totally blab everything. So no one tell me the location of their secret base, 'kay?

I don't feel revision today has gone as well as it should have due to poor sleeping, which is stressing me rather, but I'm trying not to think about it.

***

Edit: It is half-seven and they've started playing it again. Okay, if I don't get a decent night's sleep tonight I'm going to go insane. Just a friendly warning.

***

Have been struck by an urge to write a Malory Towers Battle Royale. This is not a nice urge. But I think it would be interesting ^_^

***

My first exam is on Monday.

***

I can't wait until I can stop revising.

***

That is all.

Edit: No, it's not! I have two [livejournal.com profile] fannish5 memes to do!

What five scenes from fanfic (yours or anyone else's) would you like to see illustrated? )

Name five totally self-indulgent story ideas. (The fanfic you would write if you didn't care if you had an audience and also had no shame.) )

Just found out we're getting our coursework marks back today. Also was given a general feedback sheet on it. I have a horrible feeling it hasn't gone very well.

*flails, just for the hell of it*

Um, yes. Am currently busy revising. First exam on Monday. Woohoo -_-

Edit: 66%. Could've been much worse. Average was 58% and my last three courseworks have been 60-something, so I'm not really surprised.

One person got 100%, though.

Either they're a genius, or make me look like a party animal.

Edit: Erm, yes, you can stop ignoring entries about drabbles now. Just thought I'd clarify that ^^

Rent drabble for [livejournal.com profile] disks_smilie Set pre-show. (I make no promises as to the quality of this.) PG.
Breakfast scene )

Jet Set Radio Future drabble for [livejournal.com profile] jenova12. G.

Echoes )

Jet Grind Radio drabble for [livejournal.com profile] kai_ds. G.

Summertime )

Sho and/or Mitsuru drabble for [livejournal.com profile] sashwizzled. PG.

Motivations )

There's a coming-of-age-novel feel to this week. "Tallulah spends her days in a silent house studying mathematics, where everything is either right or wrong, and computing, where the present becomes the past all too easily. She spends her nights taking risks and exploring violence through her writing. Outside the summer comes, bringing with it three months of promise..."

I'm sure there's some thematic goodness to be had there.

And now that I've finished being unbearably pretentious, I shall simply report on my exams as follows:

M11 - went ok. Managed to write something for nearly all the questions. Just as I was dropping off to sleep that night I realised I'd forgotten a crucial definition. But this could have gone really well or only been mediocre.

M12 - tomorrow.

M13 - due to panic and dehydration, lost it and mixed up x and y at a crucial moment. Don't feel I did the exam justice. Will blame poor lecturer and tutor anyway.

M14 - a really sneaky exam paper, but I did two questions okay and the last one may or may not have been okay (and that was my fault, I didn't bother to figure out some terminology enough)

Computing - on Thursday *prays* *makes offerings to shrine* *is so incredibly doomed*
tallulahgs: (Indigestion)
The last two days, I've managed to revise a chapter of M11, a chapter of M12, and do an M14 past paper. M13 was revised to death last week so I will go back to it later. Computing?

...

...

...

Say, look, a badger with a gun! *points wildly out of window*

That is, computing is... going to go horribly wrong. I have no recollection of the articles I've already studied and I haven't even finished revising all the material (with my four maths units, this is the second or third time for each chapter).

The funny thing is that I'm not that stressed. I think this is because I am blaming the lecturer for it and so feel he doesn't deserve my good marks... or some other half-arsed excuse.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to shake myself out of this feeling.

Anyway, today I have managed one M12 chapter, half an M11 chapter and not much else - due to a combination of timing issues and a sudden dizzy spell (this happened at the start of the Easter holidays too, and my mum said it was a reaction to spending too much time staring at maths. I am prepared to believe her on this, but the annoying thing is everything I like doing and everything I have to do involves reading, screens or both. Hence the reason why I'm at a laptop even though it's not helping).

I really want to say something that's not about revision, but there seriously isn't much at the moment.

I've started hating the sound of my housemates' voices again. Possibly every time I hear loud excited male voices, I assume they're up to no good ^^ Still, there's less than a month left to go in this house, so meh.

Ooh! My family are moving house! It... all sounds very stressful and I'm glad I'm not there. It'll be kind of weird coming home to a different home, but on the other hand I will have a room on the first floor instead of the ground floor. And a desk. (Revising on a desk instead of a bed these last few weeks has made a lot of difference. Desk love.)

I figure taking a break now - when I don't work well anyway (I'm definitely a morning person when it comes to working) is better than persisting. (Cunningly, I have procrastinated enough that there's now no point in carrying on. Mwaha.)

I wish I had a dictaphone or something. If I get dizzy enough that I can't use the computer at home, I can dictate to Nik (which has occurred on two occasions). Still, he might not like having to write down this particular idea. (He thinks it's insane and will never work. I intend to prove him wrong.)

There. A whole journal entry not containing any memes. It can be done.

More memes

Apr. 9th, 2006 10:48 am
tallulahgs: (Default)
1. Make a list of 15 characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment. (That way you're not leading the questions asked to fit the characters.)

2. Ask your friends to post questions in the comments.

For example:

"4, 6, 12 & 15 are starting a band together, what is their name and what kind of music do they play? Also, who's the lead singer, and what instruments do the others play?"

3. After your friends have asked enough questions, round them up and answer them using the 15 characters you selected beforehand, and then post them.

You know, one day I will use this journal for something other than pointless memes. No, really.

Nik hath returned from Washington, and spent yesterday evening regaling us with a blow-by-blow account of the trip. He is a very entertaining raconteur. However, he is now asleep and I am not sure whether to wake him up... we're early risers in our house, and you're not meant to give in to jet-lag...

Apparently the lump in my neck (which has now been there for two months) needs attention - I'm having a blood test tomorrow and then am going to get a biopsy (I think that's the right word). The doctor said 'They'll probably either stick a needle in it or take it out.'

I dislike blades near my neck, but oh well ^_^

Am now trying not to mention it to my mum because it makes her stress. (I perhaps shouldn't have told her that the form for the biopsy that the doctor filled out was headed 'Urgent Cancer Referral Form.')

(He doesn't think it is cancer.)

(Or maybe he's just saying that... ^^)

As for revision: M12, M13 and M14 are ticking away nicely (well, I've got a whole list of queries on M13 because My lecturer is very bad at explaining things I find it difficult, but I am getting through it). M11 and computing are going very slowly and I have a horrible feeling I'm not remembering any of the stuff I've already done. Ah well. I reckon most of my classmates are in the same boat.
tallulahgs: (Battle Royale 80s)
To-Do List:

- M11. Entire sheet. However the tutor tomorrow may give me some of the answers. Either way it's not being started now, because I'm not in the right mood and would give up after a few minutes

- M13 I hate my lecturer and I hate my tutor because they are both MORONS. RAAARGH. Q1, parts (iii) (WTF? That's last year's syllabus! No fair!) and (iv) (looks suspiciously easy...), and Q3 part (i) (even the bit I thought I'd done has gone horribly wrong. Wail, angst, moan, etc)

- M14 Q3 which I have been working on for about four hours in the past two days and still sucks. The thing is I got really into it yesterday but in the end gave up and e-mailed my tutor and now she's e-mailed back and I'm not into it any more.

- Revise (eeek)

- Study the webpages of three other groups in my computing class, make notes, revise notes

- Ditto for own webpage

And soon I am going home, where the computer connected to the Net won't have AIM. I could download it, but I've forgotten my password AGAIN so this would mean resetting it for the second time and that's... kind of embarrassing. Eh. I'll notice if anything amazing happens on [livejournal.com profile] br_roleplay.

Okay, back to work/attempting to compose begging letters to tutors.

Attempting to revise computing, but the dreaded apathy (which others of my peer group have already suffered) is eating me alive. Unfortunate, as I have the two most difficult exams on Thursday and Friday. Computing I'm feeling is kind of a lost cause because I didn't do enough work during the term, but Sequences, Real Numbers And Series I just need to motivate myself to learn everything in the notes inside out *cue sardonic laughter*

First exam in six hours... see me procrastinate... la la la...
To be honest, if I'm not prepared enough for this one, I'm sunk on all the others. Maybe after I've taken this exam, exams in general will seem more real. At the moment I feel rather detached from uni/work, despite revising reasonably well.

Ten Top Trivia Tips about Tallulah!

  2. Tallulah can not regurgitate.
  3. Tallulah has often been found swimming miles from shore in the Indian Ocean.

  7. You should always store Tallulah in an airtight container in the fridge!
  8. Research indicates that Tallulah will be attracted to people who have recently eaten bananas.

I hate bananas, okay?

"Oh. Oh, no. No no no no no no no no. You can't do that. You just can't.
...
You did, didn't you?"

- my reaction on discovering that they could ask us to give that really long, boring, incomprehensible proof of Theorem 3.2 that goes on for two sides and doesn't make any sense.

On the plus side - yay! Swimming!

Yay, I'm home! As I hoped, the food is much better than it is at university ^_^

Amount of revision done today: 4 hours. Not a bad start, but from past experience I know it tends to only go downhill as the holidays progress...

I was complaining to my mother about the difficulties of keeping track of everyone when writing a Battle Royale fic. She suggested using Playmobil toys to represent the characters. Humorous though this image is, I think it could have some merit...

First exam

Vectors exam today. Went... well, I pretty much owned the first section, but in the second you are supposed to complete two questions and I only did one... but it went a lot better than it could have done, seeing as I hate and despise vectors, and as I only need 25% to pass, it should be okay.

Duncan and I think Tom shows psychopathic tendencies. (Or he's just a very selfish student, but 'psychopathic' is a fun word to write and say.)

Captain Jack in Doctor Who is extremely good-looking. I think so, anyway.

Music meme

tallulahgs: (Battle Royale 80s)
List your current six favorite songs, then pick six other people that have to do the same.

1. Eliza Carthy - Train Song
2. JSRF - Concept of Love
3. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc
4. Gershwin - Summertime
5. Trapt - Headstrong
6. Alice Cooper - Poison

And quite a lot of people did a similar music meme a while back, so do this if you want... I don't want to pick on people.

Still tired. Still revising vectors. Have now identified the areas I may be able to answer questions on and get some marks in, and the areas in which there is not a chance in hell of this happening.
tallulahgs: (Dying a virgin)
JSRF's Concept of Love is so cool.
Am at home, attempting to access my e-mails, and so far, failing, because for some reason, the home computer doesn't seem to like us signing in. Nik knows a method involving MSN which I am trying to put into practice...
Stayed up until 1:40 a.m last night playing the 'given these two characters, which one would you sleep with?' game with Nik. We stuck to Battle Royale as there are so very many characters.

Ramblings about said game )

I have done three hours of revision, goooo me.
tallulahgs: (Bad Day Tetsuo)
Yet another Battle Royale dream )

This is a "short break" from the ever-present revision. Vectors has too many letters in it.

Apologies to anyone I disappeared to on MSN last night. After I had words with/an annoying text message from (that I couldn't reply to because I have no credit on my phone) Tom, Duncan came in and we chatted for some time until I was less ready to break something, then I went and watched Desperate Housewives round at a friend's. So... sorry.
tallulahgs: (Gangs of...)
Book meme, stolen from emeraldsword )

Hate revision. Hate it hate it hate it. Especially revision of vectors. Have got through it so far (two hours in two days -_-... still, it's the time that would have been taken up by vectors lectures if the course was still going) by copious application of show tunes/cheesy pop songs.
(I think it's a shame I Will Survive has become such a cliche, because it's actually really good ^_^)
Anyway, so I revised and worked a lot like a good girl for the early part of the afternoon... then goofed off, spent far too much time on the Internet, and gave myself a stiff neck and feelings of guilt. However, FAKE 3, which I won in the [livejournal.com profile] sober_mob pub quiz, arrived and I only realised this evening, and it has quite restored my good humour. (It makes me fangirl. I want to hug it. And hug Dee and Ryo. Cos... they're extremely huggable ^_^) Thank you very much, [livejournal.com profile] robert_frogg!
I am not as tired as I was (no thanks to last night's sleep - first I had a nightmare about being in - you guessed it - Battle Royale (this time I was actually wearing a collar, which was horrible) and then a nightmare about how it was actually Thursday and I'd slept in and missed all my lectures; I kept waking up, staring at the clock, realising I could stay in bed, and falling back into the dream and panicking again). My eye is also not as swollen. Also good. I have decided to stay on my course. I may have found somewhere to live, but I'm not rejoicing until I've got a signed contract, dammit!
Am not writing as much as I should be *pokes brain*
