1. Total number of books I've owned: Hmm. Well, about fifty Sweet Valley books and Sabrina the Teenage Witch books, and then about maybe... another bookshelf-full? But some of those have since been passed to my little sister. To tell the truth, I don't like buying books, so a large proportion of what I read tends to be from a library or owned by my mum.
2. The last book I bought: Oh geez... I think it was The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, which was very good.
3. The last book I read: If we're counting manga, FAKE 3 by Sanami Matoh. If we're not, Reefer Madness by Eric Schlosser.
4. Five books that mean a lot to me:
1) The God Of Small Things by Arundhati Roy. The description just blows me away, it's all so vivid and I would love to be able to write like that. The way the plot unfolds is also great.
2) The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides. Again the description rocks, but it's also so sad and such a great portrayal of a subject that can easily tip over into wangst. Also it was good reading it when I was feeling low as it helped me to realise that no, this is what suicide is really like, and I do not want it.
3) Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce. This was the first 'teenage-girl' book I read that I empathised really strongly with, and it got me into writing.
4) On Writing by Stephen King. The guy knows his stuff. Plus it taught me the six-week rule, which I think made a real difference to the quality of my fanfics.
5) Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman - it hasn't changed my life, but all of it works so well and it's extremely entertaining.
Hate revision. Hate it hate it hate it. Especially revision of vectors. Have got through it so far (two hours in two days -_-... still, it's the time that would have been taken up by vectors lectures if the course was still going) by copious application of show tunes/cheesy pop songs.
(I think it's a shame I Will Survive has become such a cliche, because it's actually really good ^_^)
Anyway, so I revised and worked a lot like a good girl for the early part of the afternoon... then goofed off, spent far too much time on the Internet, and gave myself a stiff neck and feelings of guilt. However, FAKE 3, which I won in the

I am not as tired as I was (no thanks to last night's sleep - first I had a nightmare about being in - you guessed it - Battle Royale (this time I was actually wearing a collar, which was horrible) and then a nightmare about how it was actually Thursday and I'd slept in and missed all my lectures; I kept waking up, staring at the clock, realising I could stay in bed, and falling back into the dream and panicking again). My eye is also not as swollen. Also good. I have decided to stay on my course. I may have found somewhere to live, but I'm not rejoicing until I've got a signed contract, dammit!
Am not writing as much as I should be *pokes brain*

Date: 2005-05-17 08:17 pm (UTC)All three (sheesh) of the BR dreams I've had have been rather stressful. Although this was the first one that involved Miksuko and Mizuho rather than Kiriyama...

Date: 2005-05-17 08:24 pm (UTC)Hm, what does Kiriyama do in your dreams? ;)
Tell me e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g! *g*
So far I only dreamed about certain characters of BR.
Yes, Kiriyama included. That was a funny one. We were on a bus and he and I argued about who was gonna drive the bus. He won fighting over it. -.-
Else I dream about Mimura. And I always dream I'm head over heels in love with him! I follow him like a little fangirl. In my first dream I hugged him all the time. In the other one he caressed my cheek and I was wearing a sailor suit of Shiroiwa High. I'm such a dork.

I'd let Kiriyama drive. I think, anyway...
Aww, so sweet! I haven't dreamt about Mimura yet, but I really like him.

I wanted to drive the bus so badly. I really was furious because he wouldn't let me. XD

Date: 2005-05-18 07:40 am (UTC)Why don't you like Movie!Kiriyama very much? I'm just curious... I haven't seen the movie, but he looks very creepy in some of the screenshots.
That's Kiriyama for you, though - shooting people, killing spiders, refusing to let others drive buses... a psychopath, I tell you.
