Went to see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe today...




Overall very enjoyable. The four kids were excellent, they really got the characters across - Lucy was so sweet and Edmund was great, I wanted to hug him. The witch was also amazing - really made the part her own and was very creepy. And Mr Tumnus, ditto.
I liked the wartime beginning and the battle scene, though others of my family didn't (for various reasons). Although the battle had no blood, it was still very dramatic - it was obvious they'd tried to make it as exciting as possible while keeping within the PG rating.
Susan's character was a bit wimpier than I've seen her, although my mother commented that it's foreshadowing her eventual breakaway from Narnia - she's not as keen.
Good to see them practise with their weapons.
I was prejudiced against Aslan because I'd seen lycoris's comment about being unimpressed. I don't think he could have had the impact that the original series Aslan did, because I was so young then ^^ but I think he should have been just a bit bigger. I'm sure it says in the books somewhere that he's bigger than the average lion.
My main nitpick was that the children should have found out from the beavers that Aslan was a lion. Then Edmund's motivation for drawing on the lion statue acquires its original motive - that he's all 'yay, Aslan's been turned to stone! I so picked the right side! Erm... right?'
In general the talking animals looked good, although the Stone Table sacrifice left me curiously unmoved.

I wasn't impressed by the Stone Table scene either. It wasn't as long as the book made it seem like, nor as dramatic.

Yes - and the girls didn't react enough. I don't think I was that impressed when I saw the TV series when I was little, or when I saw it in this animated version, though... so maybe it is partly me.
Did you like the movie overall?
