Amazement: the animals in the animated kids' programme Don't Eat The Neighbours do not just have gay hints, they are actively and totally gay. The producers are taking the smeg here.
Gloom: I wish my manager didn't keep acting like she found me totally irritating to be around. I was thinking this as I left the shop this evening, and as I had nothing to read I spent the entire bus journey thinking about it as well. By the time I got home I was extremely down. It just feels like I don't fit in there and they just think I'm stupid and useless, and I hate feeling like that.
Okay, self-pitying bit over.
Fangirlishness (so it's not a proper emotion, so what?): Nik and I watched almost all of the original Akira movie with the original dubbing!

Everyone sounds stoned. That is the first thing I have to say. Everyone sounds much less awake and speaks more slowly. (Hmm, maybe it's just our speakers.)
Kaneda's voice actor is awful. Well, he sounds a lot stupider and his voice drags down at the end like a bad impression of Bill and Ted. Tetsuo's is a bit more melodramatic (Nik hates him because he claims Joshua Seth (Tai from Digimon, who does the remastered voice) is sexy.)
Yamagata and Kai are about the same *phew*
Their girlfriends are so much deeper and growlier. It is very disturbing.
I can't get over how different the dialogue is in this, though! I'd love to know what the original script was meant to be, because one of the films must have employed major artistic license. In terms of which script is better though, I think they come in about equally.
Oh, and in this dub, everyone's names are pronounced in a Western way (i.e. Kaneda, Akira) which is just plain irritating now I got used to the other pronounciations...

Excuse me? Nik and I said we thought they were gay and then you went and watched it and confirmed our suspicions! I never denied it, it's just I only realised it's not just hints, the programmers are doing it on purpose. (Example: Wolf yells at Fox to get out of his house, and Fox says 'Could you say that again? Just for me?')

It was most fun. I think one of the best bits was when I realised Takashi sounds exactly like Frenchy from Grease. That was when I knew I'd entered a strange new world.

And we knew it was on purpose too. Such as the line "Was it good for you too?" from Wolf to Rabbit as I recall. And the date between Wolf and Terrapin. And the fact that Fox is a fucking fag. :D

Yes, it was so totally on purpose! (I don't remember either of the lines you mention, but I can think of many others. Today's DETN tidbit: Wolf and Fox go to line-dancing class together. As they walk back through the woods afterwards, Fox is pissed because Wolf spent most of the evening dancing with someone else.)
Yeah, well...we kept pausing the DVD every few minutes and shrieking at each other how much things had been changed...by the time I realised about Takashi, there's a slight possibility we may no longer have been taking the film entirely seriously...

*giggles* It couldn't be by accident at all. It's just too blatant! And that is TOTALLY gay. I mean, how else can you TAKE that? (plus, Fox sounds INCREDIBLY gay!)

Strangely enough, I was planning to bring it with me. I had such a nice time watching it with you! Besides, I was planning on us having a silly musicals night with Rocky Horror and Little Shop. Espcially as someone wants me to write the band doing the Rocky Horror so it'll be important that you know it! :)

Well, it's quite an entertaining version but it is kind of irritating in places. The most irritating thing is that they pronounce Ryu's name 'Roy'. HOW can they do this? It's obviously spelt R-y-u! Nik and I therefore assumed it was like Iori in Digimon being turned into Cody, and started planning our own Anglicized Akira remake (Kaneda = Cameron, Tetsuo = Tez (Terry), Yamagata = Gavin, Kai = Kevin and I'm stopping now cos I'm scaring myself...)
The only annoying thing about the pronounciation really is I got used to it being the other way round - when I read the manga I pronounced it as you write it in your comment - and now I'm all confused...

No, I haven't seen Little Britain. It's on at the moment isn't it? I read about it in the papers (that's what I do, I don't watch things, I read about them #^_^#)

Geek only refers to Nerds that fit into a specific category, like anime or video games. Technically, I'm video game geek and you're an anime geek, but we're both nerds.
