1) The entirety of Battle Royale Book 7 a.k.a Shinji Mimura vs Kazuo Kiriyama. Despite the tragic end to it, I find it so inspiring and I love Shinji so much, keeping on fighting till the end despite what happens to him.

2) The last part of Akira Book 1 a.k.a every single biker in Neo-Tokyo vs. Tetsuo, and then Kaneda vs. Tetsuo. And not just because of Yamagata dying either :p The violence builds up and up and then Tetsuo turns the tables and also it's the first time Kaneda turns on his friend for good. And it's also sort of the last gasp of Kaneda, Kei, Kai and Tetsuo's old lives (or in Yamagata's case, just his last gasp) and makes a great end to the book.

3) The middle of Akira Book 6 a.k.a Kaneda and laser rifle vs. Tetsuo and psychic powers. I love the way it starts off using technology/powers and then regresses back down to fists and echoes the guys' friendship back in Book 1 and shows how really, this is what it was all about. Plus it shows how much Kei matters to Kaneda. And I like that.

4) The lighthouse scene in the movie of Battle Royale a.k.a five girls vs. each other. Of the three media, I like the lighthouse scene best in the movie because it's so fast-paced, well-shot, and seems incredibly realistic and contrasts so shockingly with the way Yukie looked in her scene with Shuuya. The shot of the dead girls at the end sends shivers down my spine. And then Yuko's death is sadder and more meditative than in either novel or manga.

5) The opening of the Akira movie a.k.a the Capsules vs. the Clowns. Because it's so incredibly bright and well-drawn and the music is great and it's really something that could only have been done in the movie - there's nothing like it in the manga.
