I'm not a one hundred percent sure to be honest. Digimon 02 gets a bit confused around the exactly stance. He's able to STOP being evil with the thing still in his body so it isn't controlling him entirely and I seem to recall that it was dormant inside him, rather than activated. So I think it helped him get to the evil crazyness he was at but I don't think he can really waive all responsibility - he chose his path.

Ah, what would a fandom be without something to have everyone go nuts over? It sounds interesting anyway!
