Really liked the Rem one, because there is a sublime, wistful kind of atmosphere when a character the reader already knows will be doomed is standing before a decision, a path. At that moment there are still all those divergent possibilities, but we already know how the puzzle pieces will align, so there is this incredible sadness.
Raito and Matsuda are in this weird kind of dance, where Raito is duplicitous in his participation in the Kira task force and yet attempts to reassure Matsuda that it is OK to have doubts. And Matsuda who is trying to align himself with what's right, this alignment always (unfortunately) dependent on pleasing someone (L, the chief, Raito…). Theirs is a very strange dynamic indeed.
Misa's first kill has given me an inspiration... Since I will most likely never write any fic, I'll just post the general idea here. AU: Once she learns about the power of the notebook, Misa decides to find Kira by sending the tapes to Sakura TV. Then in Aoyama, Misa waits in the cafe and scans the crowds with her shinigami eyes. When she notices Raito, she takes a long look at him passing by. She then opens the notebook and writes his name.
Well, this sounded better in my head, along with some inner monologue and stuff. I'm not sure if there would be a particular reason, maybe she doesn't want to share her newfound power, or maybe thinks she'd be a better Kira than Kira. Or just because, an impulse decision. Or all three. I dunno, but reading what you wrote about Misa totally put this scene in my head!!…
