A few things: I'm having Psychologically Significant Battle Royale Dreams again (as opposed to just random ones); I've decided I don't really like ska music;
lycoris has left but we had a really great week (well, I did); I finally saw Jurassic Park and felt I made the right choice not seeing it as a kid as it would have scared the pants off me; I also saw Serenity which I really liked (I liked JP too but it was scarier ^^); I still can't find a song about Kaori (from Akira, not BR); I think my family are getting very tired of me; and I am EMO. EMOOOOOOOOOO.
*cough*
If anyone does know any songs they think might fit Kaori, please tell me! This is driving me nuts.
I also read the first volume of One Piece, watched the original black-and-white version of Little Shop Of Horrors (WTF, dudes. Just... what?) saw some more Doctor Who episodes (yay for the Seventh Doctor!) went to the zoo, saw three episodes of Stingray and could have sworn it was better when I was a kid, and... yeah. Watched/read some other stuff too (okay, the reading was mainly Sweet Valley Twins books, but so what? :p)
Edit: I owe Zarrah a meme, yey.
Here's a twist on the usual letter meme - comment and I'll give you a letter. Come up with ten song titles for it, and explain why you picked it.
And I now can't think of a single song with a title beginning with M. Great.
Okay... in no particular order...
1) Matty Groves by Fairport Convention. Because thanks to my brother, I always see this happy folky ballad about people dying being acted out by the BR cast. Which is amusing.
2) The Meek Shall Inherit from Little Shop Of Horrors ('the' doesn't count as a word :p). I was almost going to put Mean Green Mother From Outer Space, but I actually like this slightly better - it's kind of cheerful and yet nightmarish and really emphasises the hero's Faustian pact.
3) My Immortal by Evanescence. Because this is the only Evanescence song I cannot stand to listen to. I find it mind-numbingly dull. (Was tempted to put Shirley Bassey's Moonraker in here too for the same reason, but felt it would make the meme too negative.)
4) Mutation from the Akira soundtrack. Because it's the only one on the CD that starts with M and I had to get Akira in there somewhere. I do like the song, though. It's weird but in a catchy way and good for writing fic to.
5) The Movie In My Mind from Miss Saigon Because it's so sad and makes me tear up and I love the way it builds and splits into two layers. (That's the extent of my technical knowledge about music.)
6) Metal Heart by Garbage. BECAUSE IT IS BATTLE ROYALE, RAWR. And very catchy. It starts off all creepy and understated and then the lyrics play and I'm all 'dude, it is so Shuuya (and others).' And that's good.
7) Money Money Money by ABBA. Because how can you not have some ABBA? And it is also catchy, and satisfyingly worldly and materialistic ^^
8) Mein Herr from the musical Cabaret. Because it has emotional resonance for me, let's say.
9) Miller Ball Breakers from the JSR soundtrack. Because it is one of my favourite songs from that game. It's all dramatic and cool and makes me think of Benten-cho and the lights and fanfic and dancing and... yeah, I need to live in reality more ^^
10) My Vietnam by Pink. Because even if I feel it's a bit emo and smug now, I ignore the lyrics and just listen to the sound, and it also reminds me of a fic I am very fond of.
Edit 2: Got a song for Kaori! Hooray for a brother with an extensive music collection.

Date: 2006-08-01 01:55 pm (UTC)Anyway, what I said was:
OR Kaori from my screenplay! Huzzah! But anyway, I forgot what Kaori from Akira looked like, so I looked it up. And now that I did, I'd like to know what sentiment you're looking for when you're looking for a song for her. Because when I saw this one picture, a lyric-less song by Moby popped into my head immediately. It's called "Anima" and it's not all that easy to find. Lemme know if you need help obtaining it.
And if you want to give me a letter, go ahead.

Date: 2006-08-02 01:34 pm (UTC)The sentiment I'm looking for is 'I'm in love with a jerk, but I love him anyway and I don't want to leave him'. Which is a surprisingly difficult thing to find in a song. I'll see if I can track down the Moby song, though - thanks!
And your letter is... A.

Date: 2006-08-02 06:26 pm (UTC)Oh, that sentiment? Because Anima is "doom...in slow motion!". For the case of loving a jerk, the most straightforwardly closest thing I could find to that is "I'll Be Anything You Want" by Auf Der Maur.

Date: 2006-08-03 12:52 pm (UTC)Thanks - I'll check that out!

Date: 2006-08-01 04:29 pm (UTC)A good Kaori song is "stars" by Hum.

Date: 2006-08-02 01:31 pm (UTC)I had remembered you mentioning that on your own LJ. Thanks!

Date: 2006-08-02 01:30 pm (UTC)Yay, it's not just me! And yes, I much preferred Going Under and Bring Me To Life (although I also don't like slow songs).

Date: 2006-08-01 07:29 pm (UTC)And Miller Ball Breakers rocks! (If it's the song I'm thinking of, since neither iTunes nor my iPod are anywhere near me) :D

Date: 2006-08-02 01:29 pm (UTC)It's the one that plays the first time you go to Benten-cho. Starts off with the bass beat.

Date: 2006-08-01 08:50 pm (UTC)Funny - I'd been wondering just a few hours ago, what ever had happened to you. I envisioned a Long Summer Vacation where you never even saw a computer. Well, it could happen!

Date: 2006-08-01 09:54 pm (UTC)I feel a bit emo today. I think it's due to the utter exhaustion. But I had a great week too. :) Glad my TV choices were all good and stuff. :)

Date: 2006-08-02 01:28 pm (UTC)Glad you had a good week! Nik said your journey was okay. Hope you feel rested soon!

Date: 2006-08-02 09:07 pm (UTC)My journey was fine, I'm sorry I didn't phone and say so myself but as my journal entry showed, I was sort of exhausted and couldn't face chatting about anything. But I'm much better now and I hope you're feeling less emo too. *cuddles*

Date: 2006-08-03 12:31 pm (UTC)No, no, it's fine; I assumed you'd got home ok cos your parents didn't make a panicked call going 'WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH OUR DAUGHTER???' I'm a little better now - Nik was making me laugh by pretending to be the Tetsuo-blob singing a Winnie-The-Pooh song o_0
no subject
Date: 2006-08-03 08:24 pm (UTC)Yeah, I hoped that might come to mind. :) And Tetsuo-blob is a singer, eh? Somehow I can see that ... it's possible I shouldn't though!

Date: 2006-08-04 10:40 am (UTC)The song in question:
"Hum de hum dum, hum de hum dum
I'm so rumbly in my tumbly
Time to munch
An early lunch
It's time for something sweet"

Date: 2006-08-02 11:02 pm (UTC)My immortal is the worst evenesence song I agree. I used to be a big fan, but I realised that nightwish and lacuena coil are even better, possibly cos they are less commercial. 'Tournoque 'and 'bring me to life' are the best evenecence.
Why are your family getting tired of you? *HUGS*

Date: 2006-08-03 12:29 pm (UTC)I have just found the Lacuna Coil stuff on that CD you gave me and I am quite fond of it. I agree with you - Evanescence are too self-consciously emo.
Oh, I was being grumpy ^^ you know how it is.

Date: 2006-08-07 08:38 pm (UTC)I’m glad you like Lacuna Coil. As someone who is oftern quite hyper (and sometimes tipsy/ high) I like FOE – doesn’t the track ‘dance the night away’ make you want to, well, dance the night away?
Glad it’s just grumpyness.
