Ah ha! But I did reply to this, so you didn't waste your breath in rambling like you just did!! ^_^

Umm...I know, I'm very weird. I LOVE horror movies and gory shit, but I guess I'm just sensitive to certain things. Or maybe I'm squimish, but I still am fasinated by it, you know?

I actually like it if books are more descriptive and go into detail when describing the gory violence. It allows my brain to recreate the scene in my head.

And about the manga style, it is icky, although I don't think I can compare it to Akira, since I've never seen the movie nor read the manga. But I do love exploding heads and arms coming off... ^^

The bottom line is that I'm a weird, complicated bi man. Hehe, just chalk it up to that!

I kind of know what you mean, in that there are some things where I don't like what's happening onscreen but I still want to watch cos I like the characters or the concept. But I reckon my tolerance for that is far lower than yours.

In Akira, there are fewer globs of brain (in fact, virtually no globs of brain at all). And less close-ups of death in general.

I rekon too! But what's funny is that when watching Shaun of the Dead and Mark or David or....oh I don't remember his name--but it's one of Shaun's friends--gets literally ripped apart limb from limb by zombies, I was shocked yet intrigued and a little bothered too.

It's very weird.

Yes, I think it was the globs of brain and the vulgarity of certain characters just got to me. I also think it was the insane
amount of violence.

The violence is the same as in the novel, though, so I guess it's just seeing it all drawn out like that.
