Much as I like the idea of an LJ strike, if I don't post at all on Friday then I'll have to post even more fic now...

[Notes/Summary] Jessica has always been the bad twin, but now she's taking this to new levels... inspired by a comment someone on
1bruce1 made.
"Jess, what on earth is that on your arm?"
Jessica hastily pulled her towel around herself as her sister gazed over at her, blue-green eyes narrowed.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she said.
Elizabeth got up, putting down her book, and marched down the side of the pool over to Jessica. "You know exactly what I'm talking about."
Reluctantly, Jessica let her towel fall again. There was no stopping Liz when she was snooping.
"Jessica!"
"What?"
"You've got a tattoo!" Elizabeth hissed. Glancing nervously over at the windows of the Wakefields' split level Spanish-style house, she continued, more quietly, "Mom and Dad are going to kill you!"
"Only if you tell them. Which you're not, are you, Lizzie? C'mon. I'll do your chores for a week. Two weeks, even."
Elizabeth sat down next to Jessica, studied the tattoo more closely. "It's not really what I'd have thought you'd choose. A skull with a snake tongue... it's a little... dark for your tastes, isn't it?"
"It's rock chic. All the coolest people are tapping into that right now."
Elizabeth shook her head. "You really are unbelievable. Well, all right. I'll keep my mouth shut. Just don't get anything pierced, okay?"
Jessica watched as her sister walked back over to her spot in the shade, and flopped back on the sun lounger, closing her eyes as the sun caressed her skin. Thank goodness Liz had bought the rock chic excuse. Jessica personally thought that if she were Lord Voldemort, she would have picked something a little, well, cooler for her organization's super-secret marking, but she supposed it went with his whole snake-and-evil thing.
Yeah. Lizzie definitely wouldn't have understood why Jessica would choose to be on the side of someone like Voldemort. But that was Liz who, despite being Jessica's twin was a total goody-two-shoes. Liz would be happy to spend her entire life reading, studying and going to movies with Todd. Jessica didn't want that. Jessica wanted drama. Drama, and power.
Being a Death Eater was sort of like that time she'd been in Bruce Patman's dare club, only much, much better. And they'd all figured - all those crazy odd-looking wizards - that Jessica wouldn't be able to handle it, that just because she was blonde and pretty and Californian she would freak out and cry and stuff. She hadn't cried when she'd got the Dark Mark, and she hadn't cried at any other time, even.
Smiling, Jessica watched the sunlight flicker on the swimming pool. There was ice cream in the fridge. She'd just had a manicure. And Voldemort had promised she'd be the prettiest, most popular girl not only in Sweet Valley, but in the world. This was shaping up to be a great summer.

[Prompt] "I never did like Saturdays", from

[Notes/Summary] Chiyo and Sakaki visit the pet shop.
"Sakaki!" Chiyo waved, and Mr Tadakichi tugged a little on the lead, as they saw the tall girl approach. "Where are you going?"
Sakaki stroked Mr Tadakichi's ears before looking up, her face even more closed than normal. "To the pet shop."
"Oh, can I come too? We could buy Mr Tadakichi a bone, you'd like that, boy, wouldn't you?"
At the pet shop, Chiyo went inside while Sakaki stood outside, holding Mr Tadakichi and looking at the kittens in the window. She was perfectly still. Chiyo wondered what she was thinking. Surely someone as cool as Sakaki couldn't be that interested in kittens.
When Chiyo came back outside Sakaki was still standing there. One hand was just brushing the glass.
Behind the glass was a grey kitten, its sharp teeth hitting the glass as it snapped at Sakaki's hand.
"Wow," Chiyo gasped. "It's lucky that glass is there, isn't it?"
"Not really," was all Sakaki said.
"Do you come to the pet shop a lot?"
"Yes. Every Saturday." Sakaki sighed, and said, quietly, "I never did like Saturdays."
"But you can't stroke the kitties."
"No. But I still come."

Date: 2008-03-19 03:31 pm (UTC)And Voldemort had promised she'd be the prettiest, most popular girl not only in Sweet Valley, but in the world.
AHAHAHA. The mental picture of Voldemort actually saying this kind of killed me!!
Also, how come the Death Eaters were willing to let Jessica become one of them when she's a Muggle? Or are the Wakefields some secret wizarding family?! And I'm overthinking this, aren't I.

totally non-existenthints in canon, honest.no subject
Date: 2008-03-30 10:24 pm (UTC)The second fic was very charming; I feel bad for Sakaki, but it was adorable. Maybe she's, like...some kind of were-wolf thing, and animals fear her naturally? I dunno, just banging ideas around. :)
