I never really had to hide books from my parents; my mother was allowed to read whatever she wanted as a child, and so extended the same privilege to me. Thus I ended up borrowing a bunch of books about sex from the local library and finding out about a lot of interesting concepts before I really needed to. I attribute any and all issues I have to this :D

Soooo, today I completed THE PROJECT. I spent the morning beta-reading it (there was a horrible moment when I realised a bunch of tables of figures were wrong and had to be re-copied-and-pasted) (there was another horrible moment when I was given a task I'd specifically asked not to have to do that day because the bloke who was going to do it called in sick) (HE'D BETTER HAVE BEEN VERY ILL) and then I spent, like, four hours printing out ten copies. Because it is 148 pages long and contains images. But yes. I HAS FINISHED PROJECT. (Although it hasn't yet been spiral-bound. But it will be.)
I am now looking forward *touches wood* to a weekend which does not involve projects and just involves me doing a few things at some point. Tomorrow is the fancy dress party, and yes, I am going as a BR schoolgirl. I suspect my weapon may be poison, aka a bottle of Bach's rescue remedy with a skull-and-crossbones label :D
I have stupidly allowed myself to run out of inhaler and my back has been vaguely achy and wheezy all day as my lungs start doing a Tetsuo impression and yelling 'WHERE ARE MY DRUGS?' I hope to sort this out next week. *fails a bit*
Overall, I liked this season better than last season. Except I'm hopelessly confused as to which season is actually which. Basically, convenience store robbery = awesome dramatic episode, tornado = not as dramatic as it should have been considering, dude, TORNADO, and Wednesday's episode = dramatic, but perhaps all wrapped up a bit too neatly. (Sucks to be you, Ellie.) But overall it was good.
Although I'm not sure about the five years later thing. I realised I kind of wanted it to end there. Even though I know it can't because Bree has to hook up with Orson again (and I want her to, I actually love their relationship) but in the 5YL I saw, well, they do, so it's all *shrug*. Lynette's delinquent sons is, like, new bolted-on plot, and omg, Gabrielle's kids are the most ugly kids ever. (Or is that just me?) And dude, I am not impressed that Susan has shacked up with some skeevy guy with greasy hair. I tend to ship the first couple I see (like, Susan/Mike, Elizabeth/Todd in Sweet Valley, Henry/Betty in Ugly Betty) and get cross if it's changed. Also, IT TOOK HER, WHAT, FOUR SEASONS TO GET TOGETHER WITH HIM *headdesk* *possibly does not understand the priniciple of soap operas*
I actually found myself liking Susan a lot more this season. I've hated her for season three, mainly because the writers seemed to be presenting her as a female version of Matsuda and I was just always '... no. Gods, no. Why are you so stupid and passive-aggressive and unable to cope and JUST PLAIN DUMB? OH GODS, WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT?' (I know some people may feel like this about Matsuda, but I personally can understand his actions, whereas Susan always seemed to do idiotic stuff for no reason.) Whereas she seemed more toned-down in this season, and more sympathetic. Conversely, I went off Gabrielle, although maybe that was just because making jokes about blind people makes me edgy. *shrug* I don't know. She was being pretty stupid, too. Lynette and Bree were still love, Lynette/Tom is still love, and YAY, KHAYLA IS OUT OF THE HOUSE. I hated that plotline too, I don't tend to like plots about creepy evil kids if it's not a horror movie. They didn't try to make Khayla sympathetic at all, and so I just felt like slapping her and that she was contrived.
Okay. I go make soup and watch JDrama.

Last night was the fancy-dress party and I did indeed go as a Battle Royale schoolgirl. Quite a few people knew the movie, which was cool, and it was pretty fun. Didn't get home til 2 a.m., though, and woke up today with a cold. Have spent most of it lurking and sleeping and watching TV. Feel vaguely grumpy now, probably because I am getting even more tired.
Edit: the party cast list, for my own reference and for lulz ^^
The theme was good vs. evil.
Good
An angel
Sgt. Elias from the movie Platoon
Elastigirl from The Incredibles
Violet, from same
Claire Bennett from Heroes
James Bond
Horatio from CSI: Miami
Harry Potter
Evil
Jason Voorhees
Freddy Kreuger
Cruella de Vil
A devil
A pirate
The Joker from The Dark Knight, in his nurse's outfit
Somewhat confused
A jar of Marmite
A devil and an angel combined (in one costume. The angel looks like it's shagging the devil. Yes, it is as weird as it sounds)
A Battle Royale schoolgirl ^^
Also, there were good and evil cookies (some shaped like Batman logos, some shaped like Ghostbuster logos, and some with appropriate quotes on), and though I did not have a gun, the pirate let me hold hers for most of the second half of the evening :D

Date: 2008-10-19 09:26 pm (UTC)Glad the costume party was good, too :D The Incredibles is a great movie, it's awesome that people went as characters from it. Nurse!Joker is pretty shweet too.
Is it such a bad thing that I read Freddy Kreuger as Kermit the Frog somehow? (I don't know if it would make much a difference to the good/evil thing, Kermit was always relatively scary)

Date: 2008-10-20 12:01 pm (UTC)It's an awesome movie! I need to watch it again ^^ And Nurse!Joker was awesome in a really terrifying way.
... it's amusingly scary, juxtaposing those two...
*pictures Kermit with one of those gloves*

Date: 2008-10-19 09:55 pm (UTC)*laughs at the fancy dress costumes* I love the jar of Marmite! Well, you love it or you hate it! ;) And the good and evil cookies sound awesome. It sounds like it was agreat party really!

Date: 2008-10-20 12:02 pm (UTC)Well, exactly! And the cookies were pretty damn cool. (Although eating one with 'EVIL' written on it in icing made me smirk for an entirely different reason >_>)

Date: 2008-10-20 01:10 am (UTC)How about those idiot writers come up with something NEW for a change!? It's getting old.
I do like the new guy in the 5th season, however. He seems promising.
