[Notes/Summary] Kagura tries to help Sakaki with her cat issues.

"You know... no offence or anything, Sakaki..." Kagura reached for another box of plasters. "But don't you think it'd be better if you just admired cats from a distance or something?"

The other girl sighed, staring down at her scratched palms. "That grey cat doesn't even let me do that now. He just... jumps on me."

"Well, that's 'cause you've always been too soft with it!" Kagura got out another plaster and placed it over the biggest cut. "It thinks you're not going to retaliate. You know, like you're the runt of the pack or something."

"Isn't that dogs?"

"You know what I mean. The wussy one, the one who everyone else can jump on. You gotta stand up for yourself!" She slammed a hand down on the shelf, making the bottle of antiseptic jump. "You see that cat again, you've got to get in there first, make a pre-emptive strike!"

Sakaki sighed and stared miserably down at her wounds again.

"You're just not cut out for violence, are you?" Kagura said at last.

"No, not really." Sakaki sighed, reached for another plaster. "I mean... it isn't like I've ever got in a fight or anything."

"No, I guess you wouldn't have." Kagura laughed. "I used to get in fights all the time when I was a kid. My mum was really mad about it."

Sakaki smiled, sort of. "I can imagine that."

"Gee, thanks." But Kagura grinned back anyway. "Anyway, if you're going to go walking in that cat's neighbourhood, just call me. I'll be like your bodyguard or something. We'll re-educate it."

"I... you don't need to hurt it," Sakaki said. "I'm sure it'll stop sooner or later."

"Yeah, but you're still in high school. You don't have the money to spend on plasters. Trust me, okay? I'll help you out. You don't need to be all lone wolf, not all the time. I won't tell." She winked.

Sakaki didn't say anything else, but she looked a bit happier.

Oh, really? Okay, I was afraid it was one of those never-ending saga type books (Dragonball, Bleach, One Piece, Sgt. Frog), and that was pretty much the only thing keeping me from actually picking it up. That's my next Border's purchase, then. :D

(Though for the record, I do keep picking Bleach up because it's awesome and totally worth the continued investment. In my eyes, at least.)
