You know your fandom's in trouble when the first five fics on its page at ff.net are not only mediocre, but downright complete and utter shit. And each amazingly sucky author reviews the other sucky authors with lashings of praise *sticks own fingers down throat*
(Now watch, the order of fics will change and this link will make it look like I'm bitching about some innocent author who's not that bad...)
The Student Union of the institution to which I am heading is also stupid. I received their brochure about Freshers' Week on Friday and did everything but actually throw it out of the window. It's all 'we'll have FUN! And there'll be PARTIES! And wow, let's pretend it's like being on a cruise ship!!!!!' *Tallulah revels in cynical bitter puritanical side*
If anyone else tells me uni is going to Be Fun, I shall bite them. Because then the implication seems to be 'if you are viewing it with fear and gloom and you hate meeting new people, you are obviously crazy. Because it's going to be SUCH FUN!!!!!11111'

Date: 2004-09-05 01:53 pm (UTC)It could be worse. One of our friends was suffering terrible depression and this counsellor person came to talk to him and said that what he wanted to do was start going to lots of parties. He, his mother, my mother and me were NOT IMPRESSED. Silly clot.
*hugs you* I'm sorry. I know it's scary. I'M worrying and I have a year to go!
