I like the Mary-Sue who, when she cries, is very controlled about it, so that "a lone tear trickles silently down her face," unlike mine, which, I daresay, are loud as approaching trains when THEY get going.
Gods, yes. And she never gets red-eyed, and her nose never runs, and her mouth never goes into that funny crying-shape. Oh, and I'm really getting sick of over-romanticised teenage boys, too. Possibly I've been writing Akira stuff too long, but when a teenage boy brings the object of his affection a single rose, and clutches her to his manly chest, and... grrrr. (Can't think of any really bad examples, but you know what I mean. Er, I hope.)
Ahh, I think I know what you mean. I reckon there are a few boys out there who'd have a TAD more compassion than the Capsules, but deep down the base or result of all attraction is a girl and a guy who want to get it on. Romance is nice, but you can't keep snuggling FOREVER. (A fact I am very woeful about, as I like snuggling, but teh weenies are nasty.)
I reckon there are a few boys out there who'd have a TAD more compassion than the Capsules... Never. Why, those guys are the epitome of romance... Yes, I have been in this fandom too long. It's partly that romantic heros seem to have lost their sex drive, but also that they seem so perfect. So kind and mature. Teenage boys are not like that (at least, not all the time) (and I have a teenage brother, so I can say this). Although I guess that's partly Gary-Stus in general.
Actually, as my friend insists on pointing out to me, the frequency with which I run into things with "JOKER" triumphantly graffitied onto them means that he's stalking me.

Gary-Stus are friggin' eunuchs, man. [attempts to follow that with semi-intelligent comment]
