Happy belated Boxing Day, people! Our family went to the movie Night At The Museum, twas pretty good. A little schmaltzy, but pretty good, and I loved the central conceit. I want to go to the Natural History Museum and creep myself out now ^^

However, today was a better day even than that, because Nik and I went up to London to see Little Shop Of Horrors! I didn't say anything about this because I was so paranoid about something going wrong, and we did get stuck in traffic twice, the first time for three-quarters of an hour, but we made it on time and it was really fun. All the cast (and actually, all the theatre staff) seemed to be enjoying themselves loads, they were all really good (Audrey was adorable! She wasn't as ditzy or weird as movie!Audrey, kind of sassier, but still vulnerable. Somewhere That's Green made me tear up a little ^^) The only things we didn't like were that Audrey II's voice wasn't as cool as movie!plant's voice could have been, and we didn't get Mean Green Mother From Outer Space :(

But overall it was great.

Anyway! Moving on to the second day of Christmas, I bring you two smutty drabbles ficlets. *cough*

[Title] Studying

This is my last day of freedom before the whirl of tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, performances, lectures, tutorials and general real life hits me head on. So... responses to comments, e-mails, etc, might be somewhat slower than normal.

Oh, and one more thing:

Dear Maths Department Timetabling People,

Whoever the complete sadist was who decided that it would be a good idea to assign me a 9:15 lecture and a 5:15 tutorial on Friday and nothing else, they had better come out with their hands up or I'm going Mimura on the office.

Tallulah,

Who knows that the maths department is not out to get her personally, but doesn't really believe it.

Have just got back from London - I met up with some people from the university musicals society and we went to see The Lion King musical in the West End!

Lion King rambling )

I then spent an extremely uncomfortable night on a friend's living room floor. I had a sleeping bag, but the zip had been busted so it wouldn't close, plus we (not I) decided to start watching Freaky Friday at two a.m and then fell asleep in front of it... well, those people who are able to fall asleep when there's a movie blaring two feet away did... about two-thirds of the way through the movie, I realised I couldn't sleep, realised everyone else was asleep, and switched off the damn thing. Then still couldn't sleep so curled up in an armchair. I think I had about four hours sleep altogether... hasn't caught up with me yet.

On Tuesday night, Mum and I watched the remake of the movie The Manchurian Candidate. It was great, and it was fascinating to see how the two movies and the book differ from each other. Whoever made the remake obviously respected the original movie - and I want to hug angsty, confused Denzil Washington. And they put in flashback-y goodness! There should be more eerie flashbacks in movies.

Still angsty and grumpy about uni, but my thoughts are too unformed to type up, not to mention I am running out of time on the Internet. Ta ta for now, mi amigos. (I'm sure some Spanish speaker on my Flist will point out that that's been misused, but meh.)
tallulahgs: (Dark Yama)
It's half past midnight and I'm sitting at the computer in nothing but my underwear, eating a cookie and finally catching up on my e-mails... why could I only do this once I should be asleep?
The play I went to see tonight was odd, but pretty good. Not perfect - my editor side was tutting and mentally brandishing a red pen at times - but very good. Is it wrong I fangirled the guy who was involved in creepy gay relationship with evil paedophile-type guy? Probably. All in all it made me more assured of my belief that romance and love can be very tricksy, upsetting things and I don't at the moment want them.
Have decided to go home next weekend - then my mum will just drive me back for my last exam, and we'll pack and then I'll leave for good this term. Wish I'd decided this before I'd bought all the food I'd need if I was going to stay... but it's no big deal. I do get far too worried about little things like this and I shouldn't.

Woah. So tired.
This morning we started rehearsals at ten a.m. Original plan was to begin technical rehearsal (we go through the motions so the lighting and sound teams can work out what they want to do) at ten. Unfortunately lighting and sound teams had realised they had a lot more work to do setting up than they'd realised. So we hung around until twelve, rehearsing random parts of the show, sewing costumes, etc.
Technical rehearsal began about then. We had intended to finish it at three and do a run-through of the whole thing, with costumes.
Technical rehearsal actually finished at half-four.
Happily, we then had about an hour's break, so my parents turned up with a picnic (including strawberries and cream!) and restored my good humour, which had been sadly absent until then.
Then we quickly ran through entrances and exits, and then we had the performance...
...which went great! Audience were lovely, clapping and cheering at everything, and all the soloists sounded gorgeous.
Then we had after-show party at the uni bar and then at the flat of one of the cast members. A lot more subdued than the Oklahoma one. (Everyone a hell of a lot more tired.)
I will go to bed soon. I'm so tired it's hard to hit the right keys ^_^

Am supposed to be reading about vectors, but thanks to my brother and my flatmates keeping me up till 2 a.m. this morning, my brain won't work. So instead...

Oklahoma going well. Audience was good last night. Lots of laughs. Tonight is the last performance and then the after-show party, and then blissful sleeeeeeep....

A very good evening on Friday! Me and my mum and brother went to see this excellent play called 'Kill The Messenger' which was sort of like a Shakespeare humour fic ^_^ Basically, the idea is that there's a guild of messengers (because you have messengers in any Shakespeare play who bring crucial news, so they've got to come from somewhere.) One of them, Iago, is kicked out for lying too much, and promptly heads off to Venice to the command of a certain black general called Othello...he manages to escape at the end of that play, and goes off to be a false messenger and wreak havoc in a load of others....
For an Iago fan like me (he is *so cool*) this was very good, and also the guy playing him was just right and really cool *bounces excitedly* and the play was so funny as well! Also they took lines from all the plays and put them in their own play (if you follow) so every time they put in a line from Othello I was like "Yay!" (Although that's kind of worrying because I thought I'd forgotten all the Othello lines after taking the exam...)

Light Opera Society concert tonight. My parents and little sister came to watch me sing...it was kind of late for my sis, and they were sitting in the second row, so I got to watch her slowly falling asleep...until we did our funky-ass rendition of 'The Teddy Bear's Picnic' and she sat bolt upright ^_^
Feeling positive about work tonight, probably because I've gone out of the house and done something (damn, this means I have no excuse for not having a social life...)
*next passage heavily censored to prevent it being read by the wrong person* Went to _____ to buy my _____ a _____ for his _______, which is next _____. I got him a ______ and a ____ which was in the sale (v good!)

If there's one thing I hate, it's Net stress...so much to do, so little time, oh the panic...
Off to London tomorrow. To see a play for drama. Leaving college at 4, returning at midnight. Have to do 10 sides of notes on aforesaid play the next morning. No supper. No time to write. Missing my friend's cello concert. Thinking this is all a waste of time, and feeling extremely cross.
So have done quiz to take my mind off it all...
